Blue Ribbon Help Sheets
Changing the Data Path
- In Blue Ribbon, look at the bottom of the screen. You will see both your User ID and, more importantly, your Data Path
- Double-click on the Data Path.
- Wah-lah...a screen appears, asking you what you'd like to use as your Data folder. Locate the folder that you want to use (ie: Data0607), and be sure that when you're done, it looks like the folder is open (you will see files grayed out to the right) Click "OK". Exit Blue Ribbon and reopen Blue Ribbon, the datapath will now be pointing to the "older" data files.
Reasons for changing the Data Path
- The most common reason will be that you are loading Blue Ribbon on a second computer, and want your Data located on a shared drive, so both users can access it. In that case, be sure to copy the original Data folder to the shared drive first, then change the path to the new location.
- You may wish to make a duplicate of the Data folder right BEFORE you do year-end,
and name it something like Data0607. Then you could do year-end processing
on the Data folder, but still have the original information available by switching
your Data Path to Data0607. This is like a "second" backup from your disk copy,
just in case you need start the year-end process over.
- Locate your Data folder by opening your "My Computer" windows (ie: C:\ProgramFiles\YouthEnrollment\Data or NETWORK folder).
- right click on the Data folder and choose "Copy".
- right click in a white (unused) space in the same window and choose "Paste".
- right click on "Copy of Data" and choose Rename.
- Type in a meaningful name, such as "Data0607".
