How to Use Skype™

1. If you have not installed and setup the Logitech™ QuickCam® Pro 5000™ and Skype™ yet, please refer to these instructions first.

2. Adding Contacts
a. To add a contact in Skype so that you can connect with them, start by clicking on the 'Add Contact' button near the top of the program.

b. On the window that comes up, type in the person who you are trying to connect with's name, email address or Skype™ username. There is an online directory of many of the Skype users' information that can be accessed here. If there are results for your search, find the one that is correct (name, location, etc. all match the person you know) and click the 'Add Selected Contact' button. If there are no results, that person may not be setup on Skype yet.

c. You can enter in a short message on the next window if you'd like, or you can simply click 'OK'.

d. When that person gets your Contact Request, they can either accept or deny it. If they accept, you will both be added to eachother's contact list in Skype.

3. Making Calls
a. There are two different types of calls that can be made in Skype; to other Skype users and to standard telephones. First we will cover calling other Skype users. First, make sure the user you want is added to your contacts list by following the above instructions.

b. Next, select their name on your contacts list and click the green Call button at the bottom of the Skype™ window.

c. Once the call is picked up by the other person, you can simply talk normally and they will hear you, likewise you can hear them. If they have a camera setup correctly, you should be able to see them after a few seconds as well, and they should be able to see you.

d. To end a call, click the red Cancel button next to the green Call button.

e. You can also call any standard telephone in the United States and Canada with no long distance charge through Skype™. To do this, simply type the 10 digit phone number at the bottom just above the Call button and press Enter.

f. People on standard telephones will be able to hear you as if you were calling from a telephone. The video does not go through on calls to standard telephones.
