Instructions for installing the Logitech™ QuickCam® Pro 5000™

DO NOT plug the camera into your computer until the instructions say to do so. The software and drivers must be installed first for it to work properly.

1. Insert the CD that came with the camera into your computer.
2. After the intro movie finishes playing, select 'Install QuickCam Software.'

3. If a window comes up that says 'Logitech is going to check for a newer version of this software' click 'OK'.

It will then likely come up with another window that says 'No update is available at this time.' Click 'OK' on this window as well.

4. When the Logitech QuickCam - InstallShield Wizard starts, click 'Next >'.

5. Select 'I accept the terms of the license agreement' and click 'Install'.

6. After installation it will ask you if you'd like to activate the Logitech Desktop Messenger service. Select 'I do not want to activate this service' and click 'Next >'.

7. After installation is complete, you will need to restart your computer. Make sure all other work is saved, then make sure 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now.' is selected and click 'Finish'.

8. When your computer finishes rebooting, login and wait until the Camera Wizard starts. At this point, connect your camera to your computer's USB port and wait. When your computer is done recognizing the camera and making sure it is installed correctly, it will automatically move to the next page.

9. On the next page it may take a few seconds but eventually your camera will turn on and you will see whatever your camera is pointed at displayed on your screen. If something is not working correctly, hit the Troubleshoot button and follow the instructions it gives, or call the Help Desk at 970.491.5351. If it does work correctly, click 'Next >'.

10. Make sure 'Launch QuickCam' is selected and click 'Finish'.

11. Once the QuickCam program starts up, we need to tune the Audio Settings to make sure it's working correctly. Click on the 'QuickCapture' button on the top right of the window.

12. This will bring up two windows, one is the webcam preview, the other is called the Logitech Microphone/Speaker setup utility. We are going to be using the setup utility for the next few steps. Click 'Next >'.

13. Make sure 'Logitech Microphone (Pro 5000)' is selected as the Primary audio capture device, then click 'Next >'.

14. Read the sentence provided at normal speaking volume. The volume bar should pick up that you are talking, and if sound levels are setup correctly, a check mark will appear on the right side. The slider below will let you change the volume of your microphone. Move it right if you want to increase the volume, left if you want to decrease the volume. Click 'Next >'.

15. Click the 'Test' button and make sure you can hear the sound it plays. If it's too loud you can lower the Volume slider to a comfortable level. Click 'Next >'.

16. Click the 'Finish' button, and your camera is installed and configured!
