National Food Safety Education Month

September, National Food Safety Education Month, is approaching rapidly. Are you prepared with some food safety activities? Now in its fifth year, the goal of the National Food Safety Education Month is to educate consumers and commercial food service personnel to handle and prepare food safely in order to prevent foodborne disease.

"Cook It Safely" is this year's theme. The 1999 National Food Safety Education Month Guide, "Cook It Safely," will be available in June. The guide will offer activities and promotional materials, including sample media releases that emphasize the "cook" message, one of the four key food safety practices promoted in the nationwide Fight BAC!™ campaign. The guide is available at: http://www.FoodSafety.gov/September.html.
