Today's consumer has never been more aware of the risks associated with handling and preparing of food. Media coverage focusing on unsafe food handling practices in restaurants and food service establishments and at home continue to increase, bringing with it attention to the industry's commitment to serving safe food.
September marks the fourth annual National Food Safety Education Month, sponsored by the International Council on Food Safety, a restaurant and food service industry coalition committed to food safety education.
Below are several events sponsored by supporting agencies in September:
The Colorado Restaurant Association (CRA) and the Colorado Beef Council are taking part in the month-long observance to focus attention on the importance of safe food handling and preparation. Recognizing that training, educating and keeping those in the industry up to date on current food safety issues and practices is critical, the CRA and the Colorado Beef Council will be sponsoring four ServSafe® Serving Safe Food training programs during the month of September. The ServSafe® course is the most widely used food safety course in the restaurant and food service industry.
These classes will be offered in the Denver Metro area throughout the month of September. All classes will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost for these trainings has been reduced during September to $69.00 for CRA members and $99.00 for non-CRA members.
