Farewell . . . and . . . Welcome
The canning season is upon us. Remember to get canners tested for accuracy before beginning your food preservation this year. And remember to make appropriate adjustments in processing times and pressure recommendations for high altitude. County Extension offices will test canners for a minimal fee.
A special thanks goes out to Heather Hart who edited the newsletter this last year. Her last day was June 30. Heather is now completing her dietetics internship, then she plans to seek her fortune in Alaska!
Elena Serrano has replaced Heather as a half-time Extension associate specialist with our department. Elena just completed her master's degree in nutrition educat
ion and is working on a doctoral degree in nutrition education.Pat Kendall is back from sabbatical leave, but she has a new assignment as interim department head in the Department of Food Science & Human Nutrition. She will also retain some of her Extension responsibilities, including directing the Safe Food program.
Beginning August 1, Melissa Bardsley, M.S., R.D., will join us on an 80% appointment as partial replacement for Pat Kendall and will help with the Safe Food program. Melissa currently works with the Women's Health program in Denver.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Elena, Pat, and Melissa!
