  • Coordinating Water Quality Educational Programs: This information sheet describes the Northern Plains and Mountains Regional Water Quality Program. The program is housed at the Land Grant Universities of the six states in the region and has a goal of protecting and enhancing water resources through research, education and extension/outreach. The program works in partnership with selected EPA Region 8 programs and staff with similar goals. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from USDA.s Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension System (CSREES).

  • Coal Bed Methane Development: This information sheet describes the Northern Plains and Mountains Regional Water Quality Program effort to address an emerging issue in the region . Coal Bed Methane (CBM) development. CBM development presents water quality challenges due to the nature of the extraction process. If our program can assist you in addressing water resource issues around CBM or other topics, feel free to contact the program coordinator in your state.

  • Geospatial Tools and Water Quality: This information sheet describes examples of the USDA Northern Plains and Mountains Regional Water Quality Program geospatial tools available to characterize and assess water resources. Our program also provides education in the use of such tools. Many of the geospatial resources of our program are available to you. Feel free to contact resource people identified in the fact sheet if any of these geospatial resources would be useful to you in your work.
