A new service of Colorado Sate University Extension, CSU Lawncheck, is available in several counties this year. The service includes a site visit by a member of the Extension horticulture staff and a written report with recommendations for treatment and care of the lawn.
"Lawn problems are the number one concern brought to Extension offices in the counties along the Front Range and we believe CSU Lawncheck will allow us to better serve this need," said Carl Wilson, CSU Extension horticulturist in Denver.
Initially CSU Lawncheck will be available in Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, El Paso and Jefferson counties in the Front Range, and in Mesa, Delta, Montrose and Ouray on the Western Slope. Homeowners should call the Extension office in their county to make an appointment and then must be onsite to assist in the lawn assessment. The follow up written report will have recommendations for improving the lawn and solving insect, disease and other lawn problems, said Mary Small, Extension Urban Integrated Pest Management agent in Jefferson County.
The minimum cost is $75, which includes up to one hour for a site visit and the written report. Mileage costs may apply, depending on the distance of the site from the county Extension office, Wilson said.
"CSU is well-known as a leader in turf management issues and we're excited about this new service that allows us to bring our expertise more directly to homeowners," Small said.
