Working with the media to place Extension in the news is an important component of the agency's success. The media can be used to help us disseminate useful information to the general public, and it is a valuable tool for communicating with constituent groups and gaining the attention of potential donors. In addition, just getting our name out reminds the public that we're an important part of their community.
When contemplating working with the media, please refer to the resources Extension has available to you:
- Media Interview Guide:
- Extension agents and specialists throughout Colorado (including campus) should contact Joanne Littlefield at 970-491-4640 or Joanne.Littlefield@colostate.edu or Jim Beers at 970-491-6401 or email@example.com
- Extension agents and specialists in the western Region should contact Leigh Fortson at 970-241-3364 or Leigh.Fortson@colostate.edu.
These media experts will help you meet and connect with reporters in your area, write successful press releases, develop materials and strategies to help the public become aware of your programs and educational efforts, and engage reporters during interviews while increasing the chances of accurate reporting.
