Resources for Depression
Depression
Depression is a serious, life-threatening condition that affects an estimated 19 million Americans. Knowing the signs and symptoms can help people know when to seek professional help.
On-line Resources
Mind Health Tracker may help people figure out how serious their symptoms are. How good is the assessment? Psychiatrist Joshua Friedman of the University of California, Los Angeles, studied more than 300 depressed patients, comparing Mind Tracker to two standard depression diagnostic instruments. He found it was just as effective. If the Tracker says you are at risk, call your family physician or therapist. (Web site helps gauge depression. Coloradoan, (11/14/99), p. C1).
An on-line depression-screening test may help people figure out how serious their symptoms are. If the screening test says you are at risk, call your family physician or therapist.
