Description:
A 9 month tenure track extension position with 2 months start-up funding for two years is available in the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University. The tenure expectations for this position are similar to other tenure track academic positions (50% teaching/extension, 35% scholarly activity, & 15% service) at Colorado State University. The successful applicant is expected to provide leadership for program activities that provide educational programs for youth focusing on food animals and horses. Cooperative program development with field staff is expected. The successful applicant will be expected to prepare grants to gain support for youth programming.
Qualifications:
A PhD degree is required. Applicants with a doctorate in Animal Sciences and related fields are preferred. The successful applicant should:
- Have experience and knowledge of the scope and value of youth programs related to food animals and horses. Individuals with lifelong experiences with livestock youth organizations are preferred.
- Have experience and knowledge with developing extension programming.
- Have experience and knowledge with multiple livestock species including horses.
- Have demonstrated superior communication skills both oral and written.
- Have experience working with and providing leadership for large volunteer organizations.
- Be prepared academically to teach undergraduate courses in Animal/Equine Science.
- Have the background, desire and ability to gain grant support.
